Totally confused 2.1 to 2.3.3

Hi

 

I'm totally confused as to what to do.I want to transfer our current site (2.2) to 2.3.3.Can I just open phpMyAdmin in the 2.2 and the copy the mysql database from 2.3.3 into it. I've read and read all about this that I can find, and am now totally confused.

Any help would be simple and would be much appreciated.

You have a couple of choices:

 

1) Install the new version of 2.3.3 into a new sub-directory on your server and then integrate your 2.2 database into the new installation (recommend choice)

 

2) Download v2.3.1 and follow the update guide, then download v2.3.2 and do the update and then download 2.3.3 and do the update. This will NOT give you all of the features included with v2.3.x, this would make your store a hybrid that only has the security updates.
