Images disappeared

When accessing an image directly with a browser you get the "The website declined to show this webpage" message, but the tab in my browser says "HTTP 403 Forbidden".

That to me indicates a problem with a .htaccess file somewhere in the image path.

F.Y.I. - The images folder should NOT have permissions HIGHER than 755 and the images files should NOT have permissions HIGHER than 644.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Hello Germ,

I do not have an .htaccess file in the folder:

/oscommerce/includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_in_cart.gif

In the root directory of oscommerce I have htaccess file that reades:

# $Id: .htaccess,v 1.3 2003/06/12 10:53:20 hpdl Exp $

#

# This is used with Apache WebServers

#

# For this to work, you must include the parameter 'Options' to

# the AllowOverride configuration

#

# Example:

#

# <Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">

# AllowOverride Options

# </Directory>

#

# 'All' with also work. (This configuration is in the

# apache/conf/httpd.conf file)

# The following makes adjustments to the SSL protocol for Internet

# Explorer browsers

<IfModule mod_setenvif.c>

<IfDefine SSL>

SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" \

nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \

downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0

</IfDefine>

</IfModule>

# Fix certain PHP values

# (commented out by default to prevent errors occuring on certain

# servers)

#<IfModule mod_php4.c>

# php_value session.use_trans_sid 0

# php_value register_globals 1

#</IfModule>

AuthName "oscommerce"

AuthUserFile "/home1/zalmanse/.htpasswds/public_html/hypnotizethis/oscommerce/passwd"

ANY .htaccess in ANY folder in the path affects ability to see the image.

My guess is it's the one in the /includes folder.

PS I do have .htaccess file in "oscommerce/includes" and it reads:

# $Id: .htaccess,v 1.4 2001/04/22 20:30:03 dwatkins Exp $

#

# This is used with Apache WebServers

# The following blocks direct HTTP requests in this directory recursively

#

# For this to work, you must include the parameter 'Limit' to the AllowOverride configuration

#

# Example:

#

#<Directory "/usr/local/apache/htdocs">

# AllowOverride Limit

#

# 'All' with also work. (This configuration is in your apache/conf/httpd.conf file)

#

# This does not affect PHP include/require functions

#

# Example: http://server/catalog/includes/application_top.php will not work

<Files *.php>

Order Deny,Allow

Deny from all

</Files>

Temporarily rename it to text.htaccess

I still get the same error.

Until you can access a buttom image directly with your browser they won't show on a web page either.

Maybe a support ticket with your host is in order.

If they showed before but suddenly stopped someone changed something somwhere.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
