Hi,

Does the software support the following :

Good search facilities within the online shop to find products. Full or partial words/phrases ?

Is it possible to analyse a customer’s sales history?

Is it possible to advertise daily promotions?

What security features are supported , encryption, ssl?

Would an online shop be able to accept payment by voucher or gift card ?

What are the reporting tools like ?

Is the software reusable and maintainable, so if a number of online shops were required could we reuse any templates, themes, coding between them ?

Is it possible to import/export data about products, sales, customers etc..? csv or xml ?

Is there API access to data?

Thanks for your help

Does the software support the following :

Good search facilities within the online shop to find products. Full or partial words/phrases ? YES, there is a search function included.

Is it possible to analyse a customer’s sales history? YES, but not out of the box. You would have to code this.

Is it possible to advertise daily promotions? YES, there is a specials function that you can change to put any of your products on sale.

What security features are supported , encryption, ssl? YES, SSL is supported.

Would an online shop be able to accept payment by voucher or gift card ? YES, but not out of the box. You would have to code this.

What are the reporting tools like ? Adequate at best but there are contributions you can add to enhance this.

Is the software reusable and maintainable, so if a number of online shops were required could we reuse any templates, themes, coding between them ? YES. osCommerce is open source.

Is it possible to import/export data about products, sales, customers etc..? csv or xml ? YES, but not out of the box. You would have to code this.

Is there API access to data? YES, but not out of the box. You would have to code this.

As Gary suggested, download and install the cart to see if it meets your basic requirements.
