An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations - is usps production server down

Hi folks....all of a sudden we are getting the error below when trying to check out. I did a search and read the posts but it looks like everything is setup correctly (it was working fine and then all of a sudden started throwing up the error).

is the usps production server down? is anyone else having trouble at the moment?

As of 11:45am EST 09/16/2012 I am seeing rates returned.

hhmmmm....ok well i still get the error.

 

i wonder if i need to upgrade the module? how do i do that?

 

any other ideas?
