osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Previewing a designed purchase

Recommended Posts

I'm developing a website that allows my customers to "build" a sign. They will choose an existing quote or create thier own statement. They must be able to choose the material, size, color, quantity and copy, then preview it, make changes and then proceed to the shopping cart. Can this be done on OSCommerce? Can it be done reasonably efficiently by a novice? I'm grateful for any input. Thanks

This can be done, but this is NOT a novice project and there isn't anything currently available in the contribution area to do it with. There are commercial add ons available for similar to what you want, but you will have to to google for them.

Could you try using something like one of the computer creator add ons. These allow customers to build a computer system using components already available within the store. People have previously used these for other things than selling computers. They have not been updated for a while and may not work with 2.3.1.

Although that suggestion would work to build the product, it is not a visual interface that the customer would then be able to see what they created before adding it to their cart.

Hi Bruce,

If this is a start up project you may possibly find

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8193/ from Chris above interesting (2.31)

There is also an image option

the paps would have to be tweaked although I believe this is available as commercial well it is just to give you some ideas.

Material, size, color, quantity and copy can be done without problem but as Chris said above the visualization would be the problem.

well just something to chew on  guess it depends how many visual options there are (material/ colour)

To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
