updating one column only using easy populate

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am new to using easy populate and am having difficulty understanding the basic way it works. I have read the contribution that comes with the software and also have spent several days reading tutorials but have not gotten it yet.

1. I have downloaded the database file I want to edit.

2. I will be using excel on my windows run computer.

3. I only want to update the stock number for over 1,000 products.

My questions are:

1. Can I just delete all the columns I do not need to update and just change the stock quanity?

2. When uploading the changes, does easy populate just look for the changes and edit the existing date or will I be creating a new database that only shows the stock quanity?

3. I have spent alot of time cleaning up the text from the original upload of data (paid to have this done), I am concerned that if I update the stock and just reupload the whole database I will have to cleanup the data again.

I appreciate any assistance, as you can see I need to figure out the basic way this works!

Thanks,

Kinetics

I think you only need

v_products_model

v_products_quantity

EOREOR

I always use tab as separator (save as text from excel)

just try it with 1 record and you'll see if it works or not.

you could create a test record just to experiment with

I use easypopulate all the time, just keeping the columns I need.

Only when updating price data, you have to make sure to include the tax classification column, otherwise I don't think there are really any other mandatory fields

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON

I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support).

So if you are still here ? What are you waiting for ?!

Find the most frequent unique errors to fix:

grep "PHP" php_error_log.txt | sed "s/^.* PHP/PHP/g" |grep "line" |sort | uniq -c | sort -r > counterrors.txt

Additionally and it is recommended to take a db backup before importing the csv.
