Customising OSCommerce

I think this looks a brilliant product - but I gotta say the installation guides weren't good - it took a combination of a number of the recommended ones on the forum until I managed to actually get the test version of the latest daily snapshot up and running. Now I want to start customising it to make it part of my site.

Can anyone recommend a reliable guide (that's easy to download) to get me from prototype to a live, customised site.

I am using a snapshot I downloaded on Saturday, so I'm talkong about almost latest version.

Thanks for any help

Thanks Steve, but those were the two sites I'd used during the installation. I think they each only seem to tell half the story and seem to offer conflicting advice. You need to keep looking at both to figure out all the problems. Surely a good product like this deserves some decent documentation and these two sites aren't really totally it.

Can anybody recommend a better source of info. or have I got some long nights ahead?

wiki.oscommerce.com is the current offical docs project. But, it is a work in progress. You have to remember OSC is still in beta stage and docs are at the bottom of the to do list. Also OSC is evolving so fast that sometimes a help topic will work on one snap and not on the new snaps. But with the introduction of MS1, it is making it possible to nail down some docs. Some of us are writing docs for wiki at the moment, including me, so it is going to evolve fast. So, it looks like you have a few long, LEARNING, evenings ahead of you.

Everything you need to know is either in this forum or on those two docs sites. So, have fun and learn all you can.

Steve
