Trentide Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Thanks for looking at my post. I need to find a solution for creating and charging a different tax zone for customers purchasing products in Los Angeles County where my shop is located. There seems to be a lot of zip code based add-ons available. However, the code needed to be found and changed in the instructions is different than the code currently in my shop. These add-ons are years old and are probably for 2.2 shops or earlier. My shop has recently been updated to 2.3.1 So, two questions: Are there any good 2.3.1 add-ons for charging different tax rates based on whether or not a customer is in your county? Maybe I'm missing something. Is there already a way to configure this in the Locations/Taxes folder in Admin? Thanks so much for any and all help! Jason
♥geoffreywalton Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 2.2. add-ons for tax should work for 2.3 I saw one for city taxes wih admin Funnily enough I found a write up last night on setting up US tax and have slightly rewritten it. Trentide Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks for the info Geoffrey. I tried to implement some of the 2.2 add-ons, but it seems that the code they say to look for and change is slightly different than my code, which is 2.3.1. Would these add-ons still work even though my code is different? Also, unfortunately, the write up link that you included explains how to set up taxes for your state, which isn't a problem with me, and not how to set up different tax rates for your county. Thanks Again, Geoffrey! What are other people doing in my situation? Surely, this is a common problem. Jason
♥geoffreywalton Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I believe right at the end of the write up it directs you to the add-ons. I expect there isone there that does something like you require.
