External Links from product URL 2.3.1

Hello All,

I have decided to run a booking component through the product url field for the ease of use for my client who will eventually take over the site I am currently working on. I have been scouring the forums and have not been able to find a straight answer for setting the product URL to default as an external link for version 2.3.1. Could any please help?
