I'm currently having the same problem as numerous others are having........I can't log onto the administrator site. ex. www.mydomain.com/admin Everything is still the same but I am unable to access the admin site. I started to research the problem and came up with this. I need to update my oscommerce v2.2 to a higher update. My question is this. Do I just delete the old coding and copy and paste the new updated coding? Or do I have to add the new coding to the existing coding? Ty for your responses. I'm such a noob at this I would appreciate the layman's term lol

Andrew,

If you are currently running v2.2 RC2a, there is an upgrade guide in the v2.3.1 download so you can upgrade from RC2a to 2.3.1. If you are pre RC2a, then you would have to create a NEW store and then import your products into the new database.

Hi, ty for the quick response. The guide doesn't really tell you how to actually upgrade. Basically I just need to know what to do with the new code. Do I just add it to the old code, if so then where at? Or do I delete the old coding and add the update?

Andrew,

The upgrade_guide.pdf (attached to this post) gives you step by step upgrade instructions.

EDIT: The file upload feature on the forum is not functioning, but if you look in the v2.3.1 download you can find the .PDF

I found the pdf, I just want to know where to put the coding. I know it's probably very simple, but if you don't know you just don't know lol. What page are the instructions on. All I see is coding and what file to put it in. I need to know where to put the updated coding at.

Andrew,

NO, it's not very simple. It can be challenging to less experienced users. The upgrade_guide.pdf tells you each file you need to edit, the code you need to change and the database changes you need to make.

The code changes may need to be altered if you have a modified store. So be prepared to edit PHP to accomodate those modifications.

ok ty. I seem to have solved that problem I was having ty very much, now I'm having a different issue. never ends. I went to log onto my admin site and i'm getting this message. " No administrators exist in the database table. Please fill in the following information to create the first administrator. (A manual login is still required after this step)" Ok, so I made a new user name and password like it says, but instead of going to a new window the same one keeps popping back up with the same message as above. I even tried my old username/password and nothing. I went into phpmyadmin, after i tried to reset my username/password and it still says 0. No matter how many times I try to add a new one. Any suggestions?
