Help a newbie

Hi all,

I am working with a client who has an os commerce site set up. The guy who originally created the site for him has become unavailable. He has asked me to just replace some of the banners on his homepage. When I attempt to do this, I get this message:

Banner Manager pixel_trans.gif1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-24, 24' at line 1

select banners_id, banners_title, banners_image, banners_group, status, expires_date, expires_impressions, date_status_change, date_scheduled, date_added from banners order by banners_title, banners_group limit -24, 24

[TEP STOP]

This is my first time working with os commerce and I'm at a loss. I cannot find anywhere a place to adjust the SQL syntax.

Anyone know what I am missing? Any help would be great, thanks!

Courtney,

Why would you want to edit the SQL for a banner change ? To change a banner, go to admin>> tools>> banner manager and upload a new banner using the new banner tool.

That's what I am trying to do and it won't let me. When I go to the banner manager it gives me the message above regarding SQL, and it won't allow me to do anything in the banner manager.

What version of Oscommerce are you using?

Take a backup of the file, eg. banner_manger_old.php and then replace the old file with a clean from a fresh oscommerce download.

It cant hurt to try? =)

If I do that will the banners all be reset also? I am doing this for a client and I don't want to risk losing the content. I isolated the part of the code that is incorrect, but I can't figure out the issue. Can you look at the code for me?

echo ' <tr id="defaultSelected" class="dataTableRowSelected" onmouseover="rowOverEffect(this)" onmouseout="rowOutEffect(this)" onclick="document.location.href='' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_BANNER_STATISTICS, 'page=' . $HTTP_GET_VARS['page'] . '&bID=' . $bInfo->banners_id) . ''">' . "n";

} else {

echo ' <tr class="dataTableRow" onmouseover="rowOverEffect(this)" onmouseout="rowOutEffect(this)" onclick="document.location.href='' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_BANNER_MANAGER, 'page=' . $HTTP_GET_VARS['page'] . '&bID=' . $banners['banners_id']) . ''">' . "n";

}

?>

The error I receive on my server is this-

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/psc.php on line 361.

Any ideas would be awesome

Hi

This is a known bug in MS2 and if you are using this version look at the split page updates in http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6654

Alright I'm gonna reveal my level of inexperience here. How do I know which version we've got? We are no longer in contact with the original designer. Also- I looked through the updates there and I don't see anything that updates banner_manager.php and I think that is where the problem is.

THank you so much for your help, I really have no clue what I am doing.

I'd correct the problem so that in future your client can use can use the site admin properly.

But that is just my opinion

Cheers

Yeah I want to fix the problem. This is my original question-

Will installing this update for sure fox the issue? Thanks Geoffrey.

How to find your version is in a reply above.

Will it fix it for sure?

Nothing is 100%

Banner manager probably call the code that is "fixed".

Cheers
