no email notification to customer when processing with paypal

hi guys recently i put on the tracking module for royal mail and since ive noticed some people when paying with paypal dont seem to be getting notified that their order has been accepted and is not at the processing stage. when i look at the order via admin, i see it has a x in the notify customer box when it says processing with the paypal payments details.

is this something ive done or is it simply that the customer isnt coming back to the site after paying with paypal so the shop doesnt know they have come back and then emailing them. as when i do it with a cheque and the status of "awaiting cheque clearance" it notifies the customer fine.

ive checked the code that the addon was near and it looks ok but then im no pro coder.

if i go to an order that has been set to processing but has not sent the customer an email, and i click processing and update with notify customer box ticked, it sends one then. and updates to ticked processing.

It could be that the customers are not redirected back to your confirmation page. It has been sometime since I checked this, but I think there is an option to automatically redirect customers to your confirmation page after payment, without requiring them click on a link to get back to your page.

Incorrect, PayPal Auto returns should ALWAYS go back to the checkout_process.php file. ( www.yourdomain.com/checkout_process.php) The process file will determine if the transaction is complete and if so, move the customer to the confirmation page, and if not, return the customer to the checkout_payment page to select another form of payment or try their payment again.
