Ari,

I would suggest creating a sitemap and then submit it using Google Webmaster Tools, set the frequency to whatever you would like to have the sitemap revisited again.

Chris

ps. You can also set the sitemap path in the robots.txt so search engines find it.

Hey Chris,

A little dumb founded here - I have uploaded the file "sitemap.class.php" to my catalog directory - now do i need to open up this php file and modify it and what fields do i need to do this or do i log into it by typing www.sitename.com/sitemap.class.php?

also I uploaded the plugin Google XML Sitemap Admin Module v1.1 from http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7915/v,23 but i cannot see it in my admin area?

Regards

Ari

Yes. you shouldn't have more than one sitemap contribution if all are not working because they will give different results. Since one is all that is needed anyway, there's no need to risk that.

Daily is probably too often unless your products change daily but it won't hurt. I don't know what you mean by full image but if you can't set up a cron job, for whatever reason, you will need to ask your host since they are server dependent.

Thank you. I appreciate the thought.

how do you know if the cron has done it job how can i check? no email recieve as per tutorial

Some hosts don't setup the email address for the control panels so you may need to change that (ask your host how). But, assuming that is setup, you can change the cron job to run at a certain time. I haven't looked at the simple cron page in a long time and am not sure you can do it from there. You may have to switch to the advanced page, assuming that is available to you. You could also ask your host how to do it or even to test it (some will).
