Greetings,

I have been trying to find a shopping cart solution that will allow somewhat complex product listings and I can't seem to figure out which combination of software and add-ons will allow what I'm looking for.

As an example:

SKU #01 - T-shirt - XXL - Green - 10 in stock

SKU #02 - T-shirt - XXL - Blue - 12 in stock

SKU #03 - T-shirt - XL - Green - 5 in stock

SKU #04 - T-shirt - XL - White - 6 in stock

I've tried both Zen Cart & OS Commerce so far. Can anyone tell me what combination of software & add-ons would allow me to list my T-shirt on one product page, with smart options.

Choosing XXL should not allow White as an option (it's only available in XL)

Choosing XXL, Green should show a picture specific to the options chosen.

Choosing XXL, Green should decrement the stock of only the XXL, Green.

Choosing XXL, Green should send me an order with SKU #01 as the product/model.

Choosing XXL, Green should independently set the final price. (XXL might be extra, Green might be discounted)

So far, the only way I've found to accomplish this level of control would be to list my T-shirt as four separate products, each with its own product listing. Is there a way to do this that would appear to the customer as a single product with several options, but appear to me as distinct SKU?

I'm just getting started with this project and there is an overwhelming amount of help available, but I've had no luck in homing in on this specific issue, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I think once you delve into OSC a little further, Gabriel, you'll see that you have much more control over things than you might realize right now. But as far as contributions go, it's beneficial for SEO (search engine optimization) to list all products on one page. You can install the following contributions:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1501 (this will list all products on a page called allprods.php ... I think this is what you want)

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7832 (Featured Products ... control what's on your home page, how many products, all products, etc.)

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6459 (a good sitemap will reference your product pages from one page)

Not sure if I really answered your question or not, but hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Unless I'm missing something, OSC without add-ons does not offer much control over product variants. Using my above t-shirt example, I can show a t-shirt, and give options for size and color, but I can't seem to control stock levels or sku #s by attribute, nor can I suppress an invalid combination of attributes, ie XXL and White.

gabriel, you will in fact need to add a contribution to provide stock control on an attribute level. for the changes in products model you mentioned above, that contribution will need to be customized further, as a specific model for each attribute is not part of that package, as far as I remember.

You can use QTPro which gives you attribute stock control

OR

Master Products which lets you add each "variant" as slave product of a master product...only the master product will show in the product listings while the slave products will show and be purchasable on the master product page.
