MichielAalders Posted November 28, 2011 Share Posted November 28, 2011 hello everyone, the pas couple of weeks i have been working on getting stuff setup for hosting an oscommerce site for internal use. mainly it was alot of putting products in and changing some colour stuff. but now i wanted to setup the e-mail system and that is when i hit brick wall. i'm using a linux machine (ubuntu 11.10) with a LAMP setup. thinking it would be as easy as setting the mail option in oscommerce to smtp and changing the values in the php.ini to the name of my companies smtp server. well apparantly it isn't that simple. the smtp server runs exchange so it is a windows machine. but that shouldn't be the problem right ?. i want to add i'm running this as a virtual machine in vmware. could it be the problem that it tries to talk to the smtp server with the ip adress of my machine even though i added it to the dns? in the smtp server i set a relay for this adress as is done with al of our servers.? does anybody have an idea i can test? MichielAalders Posted November 28, 2011 Author Share Posted November 28, 2011 i figured out that the problems has to be somewhere in php. i tried using telnet from the terminal and i was capable of sending a message. i tried some very simple php script but is didn't sent anything. this really is the last step to make it ready for use so i hope someone can help me with it.
