Need some newbie help!

I was always able to code simple sites and design them pretty well i would think but the most recent project i took on was a buddy wants to start selling coral online so i said hey i could do it free of charge for the experience.

 

got the design down how the website is laid out.

installed oscommerce 2.3.1 and have access to the admin interface. Able to change the catalog and such to how i want it.

 

what im lost at is when i click on online catalog at the top, it shows nothing other than this site is under development. What am i doing wrong. Is there as step i am missing? I've tried searching and searching and using examples to try to figure out whats going on but i just can not figure it out. All the tutorials i seem to find are just how to get it installed and change things in the admin interface.

 

2nd question.

 

Is it easy to customize the catalog to how i want it? say i came up with a design in photoshop for the website i want can i use it? I bascially designed the entire site in photoshop sliced it up and put all the images in tables and got it set up to how i want it to look.

 

I want to be able to use my own buttons for navigation and really just need products to show up in a certain cell in a table.......

 

i feel like im leaving something out

ok found my store. its at index.php had to clear my cache too. as far as customizing it to how i want, guess will have to screw with stuff to see what i can do...

You are trying to use an html layout for shopping cart written in PHP.

 

I suggest deleting any html you have created (except for a landing page if you wish) and use either Theme roller to create a new Jquery UI theme or seek out a template that will suit your needs.

 

Although osCommerce renders in HTML, it is PHP coding.

ya im starting to gather that php is the whole basis of a oscommerce and html just does not intergrate with it.
