Montey Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Is it possible to use a shared SSL certificate on my checkout? My host is Streamline.net and I think they only offer a shared cert Or will this course problems?
PupStar Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 although it is normally favourable to have your own SSL certificate a shared SSL certificate will work just as well. The only edits you need to do will be in the configure file. Regards Mark
MrPhil Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 While it's certainly possible to use a shared SSL certificate, keep in mind that this will usually mean displaying your host's server name and your account name, rather than your own domain name, for SSL protected pages. I.e., instead of https://www.mysite.com/catalog/checkout.php... you might have to use https://myservername.myhost.com/~myaccount/catalog/checkout.php... Some customers are scared off by that, so keep that in mind. That's why most stores prefer to get their own private SSL certificate, even though it's an extra expense.
