cornburn Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hi everyone, I have 2 old 2.2-MS2 installations that are on a server due to be upgraded to PHP 5.3. For this reason I need to get them up to date with no downtime. Just want to see if the general opinion is to upgrade both manually from MS2 to Rca, then on to 2.3, or am I best to make a new 2.3 installation in a new folder, somehow transfer everything from the store across and just point visitors to this new installation once it's been fully tested? To run through all the upgrades on both installations looks as if it would take a long time and I'm also concerned about every step possibly taking down a live site. Any tips from the more knowlegable amongst you before I get started? Cheers :)
♥geoffreywalton Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hi I would install xampp on a pc. This runs apache and mysql on your pc. Copy your site onto that and create 2 configure files in /includes/local and /admin/includes/local. Then you can apply all you patches on a test system.
