jeu4328
Hello, everyone: I recently paid someone to set up a Store for me (using osCommerce) that would enable my customers to purchase and download embroidery files directly from my website. It is very basic ... and not the most exciting store I've ever seen ... but it was at least functional and served it's purpose. That being said ... there were things that I've been asking my computer tech to change (such a Information headings), but as of now, that has not happened. Since I also need to tweak the Store to allow customers to download free design files without having to go through PayPal, (and I'm not getting the help I need), I decided to take matters into my own hands and try to make some changes to my Store. Well, I certainly did that. I have made a complete mess of things, and now my Store is not accesible at all. That is a definite change that I wish I could undo. I've called and left many messages with my Tech, and I've sent several emails requesting his help over the past couple of weeks. He did email me last Friday and tell me he would look at it after work, but I have yet to hear from him again. He is not getting back to me, my store is a mess, and I am absolutely desparate. I'm wondering if what I need to do at this point is try to re-install all of the modules (my reasoning is below) ... or if I should try to re-install osCommerce completely. Is there any way to run a diagnostic to let me know what osCommerce files I am missing? And that would allow me to download those files without having to do a complete re-install? Is there any way for me to fix this problem without losing my data base files? Is there anyone out there who would be able to instruct me on how to do that? When I say that I'm completely clueless when it comes to programming, it is a definite understatement. I have absolutely no knowledge of HTML coding, and no experience setting up a website. In fact, I was looking at the osCommerce PDF file with is attached to the program file, trying to figure out how to re-install the program, and I became overwhelmed and lost. Below are the error messages I am getting when I try to log into my Store/Admin program: (the errors don't come up every time, but almost every time I try to log in) Warning: include(/home/jeu4328/public_html/store/includes/languages/english/modules/action_recorder/ar_admin_login.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/admin/includes/classes/action_recorder.php on line 25 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/jeu4328/public_html/store/includes/languages/english/modules/action_recorder/ar_admin_login.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/admin/includes/classes/action_recorder.php on line 25 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/admin/includes/classes/action_recorder.php:25) in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 34 When I try to access my store at JewellsEmbroidery.com/Store, these are the error messages that I receive: Warning: require(includes/languages/english/index.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/index.php on line 33 Warning: require(includes/languages/english/index.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/index.php on line 33 Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/languages/english/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/jeu4328/public_html/store/index.php on line 33 I'm not sure what I did. But I believe I deleted the Payment modules, because they no longer show up when I'm in my Admin page. I may have deleted other things as well. It goes without saying that I should not have tried to fix my Store myself. At this point, any advice or help I could get would be greatly apprciated. (I am just leaving for a Dr appointment, but will check in as soon as I return home.) Thank you so much, Jewell
Guest
Jewell, The errors you are receiving means that files are missing. You have a couple of options: 1) Ask your hosting provider to restore your website from one of the backups from before you made the changes. 2) Upload the missing files back to the appropriate directories 3) Hire someone to correct the issues and make the changes you want to make. jeu4328
Chris: Thank you very much for your quick reply. I will contact my Hosting Provider and request that they restore my files. I'm thinking that will be the quickestf solution (and safest). Have a terrific day! Jewell
MrPhil
You'll probably have to pay your host the going hourly rate for restoring website files (i.e., it probably won't be free). Make sure to tell them that you need a backup from before the time you started fooling with it -- be aware that most hosts don't keep a backup for more than a few days. Once you get your site straightened out, by whatever method discussed previously, I hope you have learned to back up your files before making changes! And, know how to quickly restore your backup! jeu4328
Thank you very much for your feedback. I appreciate your help. My computer tech reinstalled osCommerce, but he was not able to save my data. I contacted my host provider, and they restored my backup files to a different file so as not to lose any of my newly reintalled files. I am interested in restoring my design files and customer files/history to my store. Can someone please tell me how to go about doing that? Do I just 'copy' the files from the backup files directory folders to the newly installed store directory folders? Can you tell me exactly where (in what folders) my design data files and customer info and purchase history files would be? Thank you.

jeu4328
Thank you for the information. Can you tell me where I would go to find that db? Is it something that I can just go in and copy and paste into the same directory in my newly installed program? Any detailed instructions would be appreciated. I have absolutely no clue what I am doing. Thank you, Jewell
♥geoffreywalton
You can access your db via phpmyadmin in your hostng control panel. Have you ever saved your data using the backup facility in your shop admin, if so these will be in /admin/backup directory. With selective editing you should be able to restore some of the required data.
