Help with creating categories

Hello,

 

I am using 2.3.1 and was wondering if anyone knows of an add-on or trick to quickly create all categories and sub-cats. I know that this may have been previously answered but i cannot find it. It will take me months to do all of my categories one by one through the admin panel. I have 20 product categories, 46 subcat1 (automakers), and hundreds of models/ model years for each maker that all need to be added. Since i have the Year Make Model add-on i know that i technically don't need to have any subcats if the customers use YMM every time, but i can't rely on them to do so. Plus it looks nicer to have some subcats. I want to be able to have one full list of my subcats that i could dump onto each main category.

 

 

Any help would be appreciated. I would like to have the site making some money before hell freezes over.

The only way I am aware of to create categories en masse is the add-on Easy Populate.

 

The caveat being you need a correctly formatted CSV file to use it.

I will do some research and see if i can do that. i have been trying to finish my categories so that i can use EP to put products in. I didnt know you could add categories as well.

If you put the categories in the EP input file it will create them as part of the import.

 

I did a nice little add-on called Clear Database that allows you to clear down the products table so if you get it wrong you can just start again.
