PGelsman Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I just moved a domain name from one host to another. I had to renew the domain on the receiving host. It was only $10 but I was wondering, is this a ruse to get you to spend money on the receiving host for doing you the favor of accepting the transfer or is it really an ICANN regulation? Thank you in advance. PGelsman
npn2531 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 You do not need to renew a domain name everytime you change hosts. Any webhost I have ever used accepts your already existing domain name at no cost. You can own a domain name even if you don't have a website. PGelsman Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Yes, I know that. I've got 42 domain names without websites. I have them for 3 reasons, First just in case I want to open another site in the future, 2- To prevent my competitors from getting those names, and 3rd to sell at some future date. Make me an offer I can't refuse. PGelsman
