cutechinelas Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Hi, My cart has two options, download or ship the product. I'm trying to figure out how I can disable the sales tax when the product is downloadable. The tax is set under product items as taxable good. However, I would only want this option when the product is purchased as a DVD...if they opt to download, tax is not applied. Does anyone have any idea?
mglenn310 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 set up a new tax class and don't apply the tax to this this should make it to only the ones labeled as taxable goods in taxed. But then again im not sure im a rookie here
mglenn310 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 i just tried this on my store and works. hope this is what you wanted. just make tax class but nothing more then that when you pick tax class in listing the stuff pick the one that you made for no tax
cutechinelas Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 actually, the download or ship dvd options are set by product attributes, so basically it's just one product with a dropdown of the following options and not separate product item.
cutechinelas Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 i just don't want to charge sales tax on download purchases
MrPhil Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Make sure you know your state and county/city sales tax regulations. Some charge sales tax on virtual products (downloads), and others don't. If a download, usually it's the tax rate in effect at the billing address, rather than any shipping address for physical goods on the same order.
