Credit Card Processing

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just found this awsome cart/shopping system today. So far, I think this is gold! Especially since it is in php. Great stuff guys!

I am looking forward to using it. I know php and what not but, I need to know more info about the credit card processing. The company I'm building this site for already processes their orders through a terminal in the shop. So, I am assuming that they have a merchant account. I asked too. They are doing this through their bank.

What I need to know is how I would go about setting up the cart to process orders online in realtime, through their current bank.

I have never built a commerce site before, but have built several applications and websites. I can handle this php part, but I really could use some pointers on the processing part, before I start digging in.

Please leave me some links to information or mail me. I would greatly appreciate any insight. I look forward to using this system for any future commerce site's and would love to become a part of this great community.

I just need a heads up!!! :D Thanks in advance!

I like to dotcom

Lemme know if ya need help!

They will need a seperate Internet Merchant account to process transactions over the web. They usually charge a higher discount rate than a swpied account because of the higher risk. You will also want to make sure that the payment gateway used by this account can be used with OSC.

A lot of people use Authorize.net for processing even though it is not a true Merchant Account. It will however allow you to process transactions. Payflow Pro and Payflow Link are two others that you may want to consider from Verisgn. You will need an add-on contribution for these to work.

The company that processes their transactions for the brick and mortor store can most likely set them up with an Internet Merchant account. I would check with them first.
