start again with new files

i have ran into alot of issues with my site. im getting errors and things just dont seem to be working correctly anymore. i have the original files of oscommerce and would like to know how to start again. i want to keep the look and feel that i have created but i want to remove all the add-ons that i have successfully and unsuccessfully applied. there is alot of rubbish that has been inputted and i think maybe the cause of the problems.

 

i want to go back to the original files.

keep the files that change the look( apart from the add-ons)

then re-input all the add-ons i know i want.

 

can anyone please advise on this.

 

the easiest way i have thought of is to delete oscommerce but not the database. install a fresh and hopefully change the database name so it will run with the new install.

 

if anyone can advise on the best method im all ears.

1. Install a brand new 2.31 install with a new db

 

2. import over products/categories/customers/orders from the old db

 

3. add the wanted add-ons

 

4. test that all is working

 

5. change the design
