Neri Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I currently sell digital files and would like to offer some free so buyers can see what I have before purchasing. Is there a way to add a free instant download file without going through paypal or another paying checkout process? Thanks
PGelsman Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I also sell digital downloads, and what I suggest is to get yourself a premium yousendit.com account. Upload the files to a folder to keep on the yousendit.com site. Then you can post links to the files you want to give away on your site. You can even track who downloads what through yousendit.com. I think this is a good idea and I just may do it myself. Thanx for the idea. Wow! This is the first post I've made here that I actually had an answer for. Sometimes I'm so smart I scare myself. I scare others too. :)
FIMBLE Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Hi Erin I would suggest that as you use osC you keep all the downloads there, you can add the link via your add / edit products page where a user can simply click it and download the item, or look around the add ons section one such add on i found immediately is this one http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/7051, there are others though. Depends on if you want the client to be logged in or not. Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
♥14steve14 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 If you just want to add a link in the product info page you will need to upload your free files to a folder within your website, which is not the downloads folder. The link should point to the file name within this folder. If you want the customer to create an account before getting the download, upload the files to the download folder, and search for a contribution that will add a free shipping and payment module. Once these modules are installed ensure that the price and weight of a product are set to zero. The contibution listed above will only show your customers an infobox with any items in your site that are listed with a price of zero. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
Neri Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 This is the one I was looking at: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/8080 It just gave me a huge error though. And I couldn't find the folders to enter the new code to bypass paypal. Has anyone else tried it?
