Adding a text box to item URGENT

As title really need to add a text box to items so customer can input text for custom items on oscommerce 2.3 seen some addons talked about that work for 2.2 but not 2.3 can anyone help with this as I'm trying to get this working for my Sister-in-law willing to pay a few £ if someone knows how to do this :)

Use Option Types 2 to allow for customer text input. It is relatively easy to convert for use with 2.3.1

That is the addon I looked at using but having limited php experience I have no idea what i need to change to get it to work with 2.3 as when i tried adding to a new install i used for testing it just caused errors
