PGelsman Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 While browsing my files with FTP, I found a mysterious file in my tools folder. When I looked at it, it has the name of one of my former programmers in it as well as my login name for my admin panel. It's in the following format: name: xxxxxxx/xx.xx name: xxxxxxx/xx.xx the filename is .htpasswd_oscommerce should I be concerned? Thank you in advance. PGelsman
NodsDorf Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Paul that is a standard file used in oscommerce 2.3.1 to protect the admin directory it should have the name but an encrypted password. Like this rick:1$zAk8dAN0f1o
osc_david Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Just noting what you said about a "former programmer". If the person has nothing to do with your store anymore you should probably remove that id.
Guest Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Paul, Your version is not 2.3.1 and does not come with that file. Not to say you can't use it, but it is not standard with your version. Chris

Guest Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Paul, Usually that file is used as added security for your admin area. It is a 'good' thing when setup correctly. Chris
