Submitting products to Google feed (Froogle/Google Product Search)

I'm looking at osCommerce as a possible replacement for a current shopping cart. Our current cart is having problems complying with the new Google requirements for their product search feed, namely unique product identifiers (i.e. UPC codes). Our products are sold only to "industry people," and not in retail/consumer stores - therefore we don't have UPCs on anything from any of our Mfrs. Therefore we are looking at creating SKU numbers. However, we currently can input SKU numbers only for products, not for options (i.e. colors and sizes). Apparently this is a problem for Google. Does osCommerce have this issue?

I think you may have better luck getting a reply if you post in the general section in the Google Base / Froogle support thread which is very well supported by Jack_MCS who is the google feed guru

RE unique product identifiers: whatever 'cart' you use, you can surely cheat google as if you got them although you would never use them in your store. all you need to do is write a few lines of code to generate a unique number (UPC number in your case) for each product. the rest to do is add this number in your feed.
