aejeffor Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I have a fully functioning site and, recently I have noticed that returning customers cant login. From the login.php in checkout, after correct credentials are entered, the page accepts them, then just reloads. the cart works fine, and keeps all the items in the cart up to this point, so the session is still alive, but I'm dead in the water until the user can get past this page to complete the checkout. and fyi, the create account pages all work correctly. any ideas?
FIMBLE Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 does the cart empty after the reload? you said it is populated up to that point. If this is a new thing to you site then have a look via FTP at the file and see when it was last accessed (there should be a date last modified in detail view) something had made this change. Unfortunately you have not said which version you are using Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post [/url] My Contributions

Raf-1 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I had the same issue on ver 2.3.1 where the customer (using Internet explorer 9) returning to the site was not able to access his/her account and therefore issues ocurred while ordering products (unable to complete checkout). Clearing cookies and deleting offline files, browsing history, etc. did not help at all. However, I asked the customer to log into his account using Google Chrome as opposed to IE9, and to my surprise there were NO problems accessing his customer account and performing check-outs all the way through (using COD options). This is obviouly a problem if only certain browsers perform reliably with OS Commerce, so I have read some postings regarding this issue. Some deal with modifications to the session files, but IN MY CASE, I chose not to change any files nor settings in my site, nor in the ADMIN interface since it appears to me to be a browser compatibility problem. I did 3 things to resolve my customer's issue with IE9: In the Browser's "Tools"> "Internet Options" 1. I asked him to "Clear SSL State" present in the "Content" tab. 2. Next, in the advanced tab, I asked him to "Restore advanced settings" and "reset" the browser. 3. Restart the browser and trying to log back into his account, and SUCCESS! he was able to get back in... complete checkout procedure and even post reviews. I do not know exactly how IE9 is interfering and I don't have the expertise to troubleshoot this issue. However, I know that at least in one instance the steps outlined above worked and no problems have been reported since. You might want to try this before changing any settings or files in the OS setup. Regards
