Guest Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Greetings, I was working on my site and when I logged into the admin piece I had an error informing me that the .htaccess and .htpasswd_oscommerce files needed to be updated. I created the .htpasswd_oscommerce file and added it. Everything was ok after that however, after speaking with my hosting company prior to this issue my admin username was removed and I am currently unable to log into the admin piece of my osCommerce website. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this? I've also checked phpMyAdmin and in the administrators panel the username still exists but I am still unable to log into the admin portion of my site. Would i be able to delete the htaccess and htpasswd_oscommerce files and re-add them? How can I establish a new username for my site and access the admin panel without losing my entire website? Please help!
Guest Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Use phpmyadmin to truncate (empty) the administrators table. Use your FTP client to Rename or remove the /admin/.htaccess file. Then log back into the admin area of your site, you will be notified that there is NO administrators and you need to create one, so, create one. When you are done that........change the .htaccess file to reflect the new information. Chris
Guest Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi Chris thank you for the assistance and the knowledge! However, I've followed the instructions as listed and now I'm getting "Error: invalid administrator login attempt" could there be something wrong with the .htaccess file?
Guest Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I was able to correct the error!!!! I tried to keep the .htaccess file and add the new info to it after I renamed it. Removing the file all together allowed me to regain access. Thank you again Chris!
Guest Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I suggest you upload a new version of the htaccess and the htpasswd_oscommerce files to the admin directory and set the htaccess password again to ensure your admin area is protected properly. Chris
