shipping date module not working

Hi i've been having a problem with the "shipping date for 2.3.1." module.

 

for starters i was wondering how i could change the form box to only accept text in dd/mm/yyyy form, preferably with the "/" automatically inserted.

 

also at the moment the type of the entry the sql added to my DB is "datetime" yet it never seems to record any format of date entered into the form.
