Newsletter. Add a delay after each email?

We are on a shared server, and sending out 10 000 newsletters at once crashes the server. We would like to add a delay / pause between emails to soften the load on the server. Does anyone know how to do this?

This sort of thing is my specialty and I have written three contributions that will do this quite well. These contributions allow you to set the rate at so many seconds per email. Set to '8' and it will send 1 email every 8 seconds, or about 500 hour. The program 'stops' or 'refreshes' between emails, so that your web server, or website doesn't keep a command open any longer that it takes to send a single email. Both will work with 2.2 and 2.3, but in 2.3 you will need to make html adjustments in how the box in the left column lines up in the admin (this does not affect how the program functions).

 

The first contribution is basic, and simply sends newsletters in your existing newsletter manager at the desired rate.

The second is a comprehensive mailing program that in addition to the mailing rate feature, sends each email in both html and text formats, and allows you to create html templates you store in the database and apply to mailings, and for that matter to any email oscommerce sends, such as the order confirmation email, or the new account email.
