Guest Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I'm not really savvy with OSCoommerce and I have this old install osCommerce Online Merchant v2.2 RC2a that was hacked twice last couple months. So, after reading here, seams that there is a solution for that on the new 2.3.1 version. I download that and could not find any automatic process to just 'upgrade'. Seams to me that I have to open file by file, and replace whatever is different from the new files Is that the right way to do it? There is no way to just dump the new one on top of the old one and run a script for the database? Thank you
web-project Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I download that and could not find any automatic process to just 'upgrade'. if you check the previous versions, no such thing as automatic upgrade option. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
♥toyicebear Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 The "best" way is simply to install a new 2.31 shop, then "re-configure" the old shop data so that you can import it into your brand new shop. Guest Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I agree with Nick, it takes less time to create a NEW site using v2.3.1 and configure it with the updated contributions, then import your database than it does to do code edits for the upgrade path and all of the contributions added. Chris
♥14steve14 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Why not read the security forum posts and carry out the suggested ideas, and then you can slowly upgrade your site as time allows and more contributions become available. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP
