LewisM Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I stopped playing at E-commerce around 5 months ago, at which time there wasn't much point in upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3.1 - with a few extra mods to secure / optimize your store you could still use 2.2 quite happily, not to mention there were 10 times as many addons for it. Now I'm back, a shiny new domain bought and a quick 2.3 install done, but I'm finding it very hard to do things without a few key mods. So my question then, is it worth upgrading to 2.3? I haven't checked the patch notes yet, but does it do anything that can't be done by 2.2 via extra modification? Thanks!
♥toyicebear Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 2.2 with security mods can do just fine. But using 2.31 has its advantages too, like for instance all the new add-ons are for 2.31 and when a stable version of v3 comes out a data migration tool for 2.31 to v3 is comming too. Jack_mcs Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I don't think it is worth the upgrade. The way 2.3 was released was a mistake, in my opinion, and I think the fact that after a year there are still only a small portion of the addons converted shows how little interest there is for it. If it had been released as an upgrade (a practical upgrade), then it would be worth it. As it is though, I think one is better off securing an RC2 shop and using it instead. LewisM Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 I thought as much, don't get me wrong some of the new features are great, but there's just not enough addons to make it worth while (for me at least). Thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated :)
