Want to display all products in categories and then use subcategories to sort

Hi Guys,

Ok I'm building a new redesigned oscommerce shop for our online shop.

When clicking on one of the menus we want it to display all the products in that category and subcategories.

I then want to use the subcategories to sort/refine these results.

My PHP is not great and need some help if possible.

Just to try and make things clearer,

The main menu is

Stereos | Speakers | Subwoofers | etc.

When clicking into stereos it will display all the products under this category (which will be sorted into folders e.g. CD | USB | IPOD)

We already have a sort by manufacturer and sort by drop down for sort by price/name and want another drop down to sort by sub folder with the option to display all again.

If possible I would prefer a contribution that allows you to sort by multiple features.

We are using 2.2 MS2, this is heavily modded.

Thank you all.

STOP !

You should not be using MS2 to build ANY new shop. The code is too out-dated and soon will be unusable as hosting providers update their server software.

Also, you cannot mix categories with sub-categories and products. You have to use either categories with products or categories with sub-categories and then products.

It's not a completely new shop just a redesign, unfortunately it is heavily modded and integrated into our SAGE systems so upgrading to 2.3 might be too much work (although if I'm honest I have not checked).

On to my issue are you saying the way I was planning will not work?

Is there a contribution that can do this a different way (having a sort by products features option)? Surely it must be a highly requested feature as a lot of online shops use it.
