kitsaras Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Hi. Is possible to update the osCommerce 2.2-MS2 in 2.2-RC2 with the admin panel login etc without loosing the way my shop looks? images theme template etc. I'm not interesting for the _db i can import after the customers and settings manual. If not which way must i follow if i make a new installation to make my site looks like it was ? Thank You
satish Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 oscommerce can not be updated through admin. You will have to apply patches.Patches are for a non modified oscommerce. In case your site has been modified then you will have to look at patches and apply some code level logic to upgrade. Guest Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Kitsaras, You would have to update from MS2 to RC1 to RC2a and then to v2.3.1. I have found that it is easier to create a NEW site with v2.3.1 than it is to update that many versions. A v2.3.1 store will have a stronger framework and incorporate additional security features. kitsaras Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Thank you both! where can i find the patches for MS2 to RC1 -> RC2a please ? I will try to patch it because i don't wont to loose my skin-theme i like it as it is!! I have a free OSC template from TM and i like the way it looks , except if you could provide me a solution how to apply my old theme-skin into a new installation of RC1 or RC2a. Regards!

web-project Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I think it's very easy described how to upgrade to different version. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.
