Help with setting up taxes/localization for Dropshipping

Hello all nice to meet you!

I need help! I have become overwhelmed with too much info....I am just starting out my drop shipping site and I need some step by step help on setting up my taxes and zones.

I live in BC Canada, BUT i will be using a drop shipper from Florida USA...basically I am trying to just sell in the states because shipping to Canada hurts the pocket book, (so I am told anyways)

This is not to say I will not sell to Canada. So now I am very confused on what and how to set this up...actually pulling out what little remaining hair I have! I can't seem to get some straight answers or direction.

ANY help would be more than appreciated!! Thank you so much in advance!

I was told to set it up with where my drop shipper is located which is in Florida ... that sound right to everyone??

Hey Todd,

 

I don't know for sure, but I recommend that you check with your local tax laws.

 

Although you are shipping from a US drop shipper you might be liable for paying taxes to your government for items you sold.

 

You might also contact the drop shipper directly and see how they handle it.

 

A matter of collecting and paying taxes is a bit more important than asking here on the forum.

 

Please seek local help for piece of mind. ;)

Jim is correct, all sales made to Canadians on your Canadian website are taxable, regardless of where they are shipped to. You should check with Revenue Canada for more information.

 

Further, you cannot collect taxes from sales outside of Canada.

Thanks to both of you for the replies. I think I will check with Revenue Canada...I don't want to get a nasty surprise down the road :blink:
