Buttons for catagory headings at bottom of Header

Hi there,

 

Ive been trying to get some buttons on the bottom of my header that are evenly spaced.

I want to use these buttons to access my top level catergories the same as you would do if you clicked the box on the left?

Ive managed to get some radio button up there and I managed to get some tabs up there but none of them are right.

Can anybody please tell me how I would go about this or please point me to a previous thread, I have looked but I cant find anything and its driving me mad!!!!
