Alex276 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I was wondering how to make a backup of my entire site, but I'm completely new to OScommerce so I thought I'd ask here. If I click backups it takes me to this screen: http://i522.photobucket.com/albums/w349/DarkFish_2008/backupsite.jpg Where do I go from here to make a backup of the entire site? I would rather save it as a local copy on my computer if possible.
NodsDorf Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 There is 2 things to backup. Files Data You can backup your files by using an FTP program to save them to a folder on your computer. You can backup the data using phpMyAdmin (most host have this service), there you can export the database and save it locally. The backup utility included with oscommerce does this as well but saves them on the server in the backup folder.
Guest Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Alex, You can choose to download the database to your local machine my click the checkbox on the right side during the back up process. That will give you a current backup if your data. To back up your files, use your FTP client (Filezilla) to download the entire store directory to your local machine. Chris
Alex276 Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 Thanks, but I'm completely new to using FTP software. How would I go about downloading the files with filezilla?
Guest Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Alex, Once you set up Filezilla to connect to your hosting account TWO windows appear (usually left and right side). The left is your local machine so choose the directory that you want to download your site into on your local machine in the left window pane. On the right is the files on your server, so choose the directory that your website is in by right clicking on it and choose DOWNLOAD from the pop up menu. That will put a copy of all of your store files onto your local computer into the directory you chose. Chris
