tshillin Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Hi there, I'm trying to find a contact number I can call for technical assistance. I'm a graphic designer, trying to get into my client's account which has been compromised and I can't even get into their account with their username and password. I have no way to fix this unless I talk to some support staff. Any ideas? Thanks so much! Tracey
Guest Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Tracey, Do you mean support staff for osCommerce ?       That's funny. The only support you will receive is by volunteers here on the forum. If your clients username and password has been compromised, then likely the website has been hacked. If this is your FIRST osCommerce project, you should refer your client to someone with more experience until you learn more about osCommerce. It could takes MONTHS / YEARS to become familiar with osCommerce. To gain access of the admin area, truncate the administrators table using the hosting accounts phpmyadmin. Once that is done, log back into the admin area and create a NEW username and password. Log in using those new credentials. Chris
tshillin Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Hi Chris, No, I don't know it that well. I hired a programmer to deal with this end of things and, apparently, he's abandoned osCommerce for greener pastures which leaves me in a real bind. Ok, so "truncate the administrators table using the hosting accounts phpmyadmin." Could you explain this using designer-speak? :) Thanks, Tracey
Guest Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Tracey, 1) Log into the hosting control panel (Hosts are providers such as Godaddy, HostGator and Netfirms) 2) Find the Database area and click on phpmhyadmin 3) The list of tables will appear for the database, select the administrators table and TRUNCATE it (empty it) DO NOT DELETE IT. 4) Use your browser (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari) to go to your admin are of your website (example: www.yourdomain.com/admin) 5) You will be notified that here is no administrator and you need to create a new one. So, create a new one. 6) Log into the admin area using the NEW username and password you just created. Chris
tshillin Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Just about there! I went to the browser and typed in: http://www.nothingperfume.com/admin (the website is nothingperfume.com) and I got an ERROR 404 - PAGE NOT FOUND.
germ Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 DOMAIN/store/admin But you still have problems.... If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. tshillin Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Yes, there are big problems with the site. I need to upgrade OsC, which is why I need to get into the osC account, which I can't get into. And yes, I've backed up the site beforehand. :) BTW, would you recommend osC to anyone? It seems incredibly difficult to deal with.
germ Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 If you go where I posted you can create an admin now (I think). tshillin Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Sorry, I tried (mydomain)/store/admin/ and I get the same page of warnings.
Guest Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Tracey, This is your admin area: http://nothingperfume.com/store/admin/ But, it won't do you any good until you correct the errors. Also, since he site has been hacked, you will want to clean and secure it as well. You have your work cut out for you, I suggest hiring another developer to handle the programming. Chris
tshillin Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 I might just have to do that. Thanks for all your help, guys!
