bendevos Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Hello, One of my new customers wants me to perform some improvments on his existing oscommerce. I discovered that he has a very old installation : V2.2 RC1. His website has been used since then , so there are quite some clients and orders in his database. I think it does not make sense to perform the changes required without first an upgrade to the latest release. (I can imagine there were many security issues solved in the meantime) My questions are, as you can expect : - new installation versus upgrade ? - how to upgrade (would the upgrade have to pass by all intermediary versions ? what is the best way and what are the major problems I could encounter ?) - How to migrate the orders and especially the customers if I choose to go for a new install. Many Thanks

Thanks for your answer. You said V2.31 ? I thought V3.0.1 was the latest release ? was is the difference ? only PHP5 versus php4? thanks again
Guest Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 v3.0.1 is NOT A STABLE RELEASE, it is just the framework so that developers can build on it. As Nick stated, use v2.3.1 Chris
