Ignoring Product Quantity

I'm trying to understand how the "inventory" system works in OSC. When creating a product, I assume the "Products Quantity" field is for the quantity in stock, yes? Now here are a couple of scenarios.

1) What would I do if I sell items but don't track inventory? I don't want any restrictions on quantities sold or any warnings.

2) What would I do if I did track inventory, but I also sold downloadable items where inventory is meaningless?

I appreciate any input. I may be missing the obvious, but I've searched quite a bit. Otherwise I am making great progress understanding OSC. Thanks.

If your not doing an inventory thing, then all you have to do is enter a very large amont in the product quanity, Like 1000. All you have to do then is to check it evey once in a while.

Thanks :P. I wonder how difficult it would be to change it so that entering a really large number like 99999 would keep it from using inventory tracking on that item? It's not a big deal but it seems like there should be a way to avoid dealing with inventory if it's a service or downloadable product. Has anyone done something like this?
