How To ? Add a " Continue Button to Pages

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could please tell me how to add the redmond "continue" button to the pages I have made.

I have made two new information boxes and the way the pages are set up right now the customer would have to hit the back button to continue looking at my site.

Any help, guidance or direction on a how to would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my website if you would like to see what I mean;

One of my project pages

Thank you in advance,

Tracie

Open any of your info files and you will find at the bottom:

 <div class="buttonSet">
   <span class="buttonAction"><?php echo tep_draw_button(IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE, 'triangle-1-e', tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT)); ?></span>
 </div>

My store is currently running Phoenix 1.0.3.0

I'm currently working on 1.0.7.2 and hope to get it live before 1.0.8.0 arrives (maybe 🙄 )

I used to have a list of add-ons here but I've found that with the ones that supporters of Phoenix get any other add-ons are not really neccessary

Thank you George & Julian for the quick reply but I guess it is not as easy as it should be. I put the code in my finish & effects page and it is not showing up. Here is how I have placed the code. It looks right but is not showing on the web page.

<?php

/*

$Id$

osCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions

http://www.oscommerce.com

Copyright © 2010 osCommerce

Released under the GNU General Public License

*/

require('includes/application_top.php');

require(DIR_WS_LANGUAGES . $language . '/' . FILENAME_FINISHES);

$breadcrumb->add(NAVBAR_TITLE, tep_href_link(FILENAME_FINISHES));

require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'template_top.php');

?>

<h1><?php echo HEADING_TITLE; ?></h1>

<div class="contentContainer">

<div class="contentText">

<?php echo TEXT_COLORS; ?>

</div>

<div class="buttonSet">

<span class="buttonAction"><?php //echo tep_draw_button(IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE, 'triangle-1-e', tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT)); ?></span>

</div>

</div>

<?php

require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'template_bottom.php');

require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'application_bottom.php');

?>

I also tried it on the other ones as well but the continue button does not show up. I even tried placing them in different spots with no luck. The summer page was done on editor so could that be a problem with the coding ??

Any idea's of what I could be doing wrong ? Please advise if you have any suggestions.

Thanks again,

Tracie

Tracie, if you upload the file you posted here to the server it should work. Do it and post the link to it here

The file you have online, does not have this format, its an other file, there is no other solution than to stop using any "editors" and to insert your files content into the "generic" file you have

Hi George,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I am not sure how I can change it to make it work with the oscommerce format. I am having to do my projects as html files. They don't seem to work when I try using them as php files.

I did however try with one file but the page came up blank with errors. RE: finish & effects page. This one I did in the oscommerce format.

I have tried adding a code to my template_top.php (as was recommended in one of the posts here) but that did not work either. I can not find the topic to show you. Sorry.

I am totally lost here and may not be able to do what I want to the site.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks again George.

The file contents you posted above are ok, so if you got any errors, then they are probably not connected to the contents of that file directly. It could be for example a missing language file or something. To nvestigate this you would need to post the errors here.

In general, what you need to do is to replace in the file posted above the <?php echo TEXT_COLORS; ?> with any html content you want. Just do not use any fixed widths, remember you are inside a grid_24 container. You can go on using the 960gs format or any other html you like.

Make a test first saying eg <p>hello word</p> instead of the echo

Hi George,

Thank you for the information but I am still stuck.

I tried what you suggested even moved it around a bit but the web page http://sunshynecraftsbeads.com/occasions.html says

Page Not Found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please try the following:

2. If I put the following at the bottom of the page I get this error below;

<div class="buttonSet">

<span class="buttonAction"><?php //echo tep_draw_button(IMAGE_BUTTON_CONTINUE, 'triangle-1-e', tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT)); ?></span>

</div>

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/sunshyn1/public_html/finishes.php on line 42

2. If I put the same coding above

<?php

require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'template_bottom.php');

require(DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'application_bottom.php');

the page is okay but the " continue " button is still not on the bottom of the page.

I thank you very much for your time and help but I think I will need to play around or leave it as is. I do not want to waste your time although I am very grateful that you did try to help.

Best Regards,

Tracie

Tracie, can you post a sample page of the html code of the page you are trying to include in osC

Hi Julian,

Here is the html code. I would like it to look like my store format or with a " continue" button to take me back to my website pages but I can't get anything to work so I guess I will have to play around some more and figure something out or remove the pages for now.

Every piece of hardcoded text you have in the first file you should put as a define in the second and call it in the first as 'MY_TEXT' - 'MY_SUMMER_TEXT' it doesn't matter what you call it so long as you define it in the mating language file

You must also add to catalog/includes/filenames.php:

 define('FILENAME_SUMMER', 'summer.php');

Tracie you have some very bad or incorrect coding in your script

- e.g.

ALIGN=CENTER should be align="center"

WIDTH=33% should be width="33%"

It doesn't matter about it being upper or lower case (I find lower easier to read) but the control words after the = should be between " "

Hi Julian,

Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for all the information. I have done everything according to your instructions and yeah it is there. I see what you mean that I will need to do some arrangeing as it is too large for the page. No matter I will figure it out. Maybe change the column sizes. It is 6:00 am here and I have been up all night with this. How's that for determination. lol

As far as my coding, I am learning as I go. Getting information from websites, google video's, working with a editor and open office templates. It makes it that much more confusing.Slowly but surely I will get it.

Again Julian. Thank you very much. You will never know how grateful I am. You are AMAZING !!!!!!
