How to disable Subcategories on the menu

Hi

 

I am using 2.3.1, I am in serious need of help here. I need to figure out one of 2 things. Or both if possible. I have my categories menu on the left column. I want to make it so that menu does not show subcategories when clicker into. So if a category has 2 subcategories, the menu won't expand when that category is clicked.

 

I also need the ability to add an extra link at the end of the category menu, leading to a list of manufacturers that can be clicked to show all of the products made by them.

 

Any help on either of these 2 problems would be appreciated.
