siteg
We have a client that is running osc v2.1 -- we're upgrading to latest osc v2.3.1 We haven't started the upgrade, but looking for any tips or suggestions on what to specifically watch for during this upgrade. A couple areas where we have some concerns: customer data and quantity pricing contributions Any experience you have out there in these two area or others would be helpful! thx. Guest
You can't update from 2.1 to v2.3.1 without first updating to 2.2 then 2.2RC2a and THEN v2.3.1. In my past experience it has been less time consuming to just create a NEW 2.3.1 site and then implement the contributions you want into the new site. As for the data, there will be a few database changes so you will need to alter some fields/tables to be compatible with the structure of a 2.3.1 database. FIMBLE
you can also update from 2.1 to 2.2 then if you don’t want your store layout messed with; update the security code (from the upgrade guide in the 2.3.1 package, it lists what to update to be security compatible with 2.3.1) and add-ons to secure the 2.2 RC2A. Unless you like all that JQuery stuff that is. Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post [/url] My Contributions

Tracey, The latest stable release and future releases of osCommerce will incorporate "that JQUERY stuff" so I suggest it would be better to upgrade the site properly, or create a new site and become familiar with "that JQUERY stuff" now rather than later.
