SEO Problems with OSC

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi, I hope there is someone out there who can help.

A while ago we bought an ecommerce solution using OSCommerce as the cart software.

However, no matter how hard we try, we cannot get the site listed in google ( on ANY PAGE !!! )

The rankings are generally very poor in everything else to.

Many people have said that OSC was very poor at this but ohers seem to disagree.

The company who we purchased from is really not interested and we would really like to expand

the site adding extra pages, blogs, reports etc etc.

we have tried submitting every month to search engines

backlinks to the site etc etc

Any help would ge greatly appreciated, as very are experts at what we sell.....we would just like to let everyone else know !!!

You might want to review site security.

Your images folder has a hack index.html file in it...

:o

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

SEO is really an art.

I just tested one of your products "Carp Runner Fishing Reel HP840" and it was found on google as rank 3. (not bad)

Granted that is very specific keywords. So I ran some of your categories for you, results are below. (Hopefully the image Posts okay) testrank.gif

if i should suggest just 1 thing it would be to change the "order" of your products title tag....Have the product name come first then the general title info

Also I should point out. I was using Google.com not Google.co.uk and that google often has many severs for each of their URLs, so results tend to vary based on what server you hit and at what time of day you are looking.

Either way it looks like you are getting ranks, and if you haven't already signed up for google webmasters / analytics you should. Knowing where people are finding your site, and who is linking to you is very beneficial.

Good Luck.

point 1: Whatever is in title should be supported by something similar on that page.

point 2 : Use of SEO-G would have been a better option.

point 3: image names to have key words or phrases.

point 4 : Did you analyse and have a list of key phrases to be targeted(Keywords to be targeted will not get quality traffic key phrases needs to be targeted).

point 5: A combination of onsite and offsite seo is recommended.
