message stack warning

Recommended Posts

Recently, my oscommerce-2.2rc2a store started to display the message stack warning that the includes/config file was writable. However, the file is/was set to 0644 permissions and nothing had been changed in the file. Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know the cause/fix?

Thanks.

Wendall,

The TWO configure.php files should be 444. If permissions have changed recently without you doing it, I would check for hacker activity on the server.

Thanks for the reply Chris. The permissions had not been changed and there seems to be no sign of hacker activity. I did set the permissions to 444 as suggested, though.

The same thing happened to the site I manage when they upgraded PHP versions.

On the old version 644 was acceptable to osC.

After the upgrade I had to go to 444.

Go figure....

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
