Easy ? ......In Admin / payment modules

In my payment module in my oscommerce: looks like this:

MODULES SORT ORDER

credit card 0

paypal 1

os commerce payment module therefore is "set" up to offer first credit card and second option to pay with buyer paypal account or start one.

I want to drop credit card option and only accept payments through paypal.

Objective 1. Only offer payments to me through paypal.

Objective 2. not store any credit card info

in my secure files as I do now. Ultimately getting out of all the

PCI, Trustwave requirements and SSL certificate which I am paying too much money for.

What setting change(s) are recommended in this module as "shown" ABOVE?

What about Objective 2?

Thanks

John,

By using PayPal to process payments through your website, you are eliminating the PCI DSS compliance requirements. However, I still recommend you have an SSL in place (30.00/yr) to protect data as it is sent to and from your website. Customer information is just as important as credit card information.

As for only allowing customers to pay with a PayPal account, this would just limit you potential customers. I would allow them to use their credit cards as the information is not stored on your server and is only seen by PayPal which is PCI DSS Compliance.

Chris,

Thank You for your help. This issue is a big “?” for me.

Yes to 30.00/Yr ssl for data protection.

Yes to allowing paypal and credit card payments through paypal as it is stored on

Paypal servers.

So as far as oscommerce “payment modules” settings?

I just take the “0” off of credit cards and make it blank.

And

Leave paypal with “1” or put “0” on paypal line?

Any other setting in this module to obtain "your" objectives?

Thanks in advance, as I have to log off.

Interesting point this - I wonder how long it will be before you have to be PCI compliant for PayPal?

I find that even with the cost of PCI, gateway, and merchant banker, accepting cards is more that half the cost of using PayPal and accesses over 60% more potential customers.

My store is currently running Phoenix 1.0.3.0

I'm currently working on 1.0.7.2 and hope to get it live before 1.0.8.0 arrives (maybe 🙄 )

I used to have a list of add-ons here but I've found that with the ones that supporters of Phoenix get any other add-ons are not really neccessary

John,

Actually,

You set your website payment preferences in your PayPal profile on the PayPal site. There is no configuration settings for that in osCommerce.

John,

Go to module>>payment in your admin select your credit card module and click on REMOVE MODULE; or you can click on EDIT and then set Allow Credit Card Payment to False and save.

Altering the sort number will not stop the module showing

PayPal can be left with 1
