edmond87
Using a Mac and Dreamweaver to set up a bookstore. Tried to have EP split the files (approx 700) and got the following warnings: Warning: Unable to create '/home/blessed/public_html/catalog/temp/EP1047574328.txt': No such file or directory in /home/blessed/public_html/osCommerce/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 789 Warning: Unable to move '/tmp/php8pQ9Pr' to '/home/blessed/public_html/catalog/temp/EP1047574328.txt' in /home/blessed/public_html/osCommerce/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 789 File uploaded. Temp file is there, looking at the manual, Special Instructions for Mac Users: "open file in BBedit and change line endings to "Unix."" Haven't used BBedit, will any text editor work? Is this instead of "EOROER" and does this mean I have to type the word "Unix" on every one of the 15,000 lines for the items this client hopes to have on his site? Had a co-worker peek at this also, he uploaded the sample files and got the same errors. Please help if you can. Thanks Kimberly [/i]
mivox
The line endings are invisible characters (more or less) that vary from one operating system to another. Mac creates different default line ending characters than Unix, so you need a text editor that will allow you to save your text files with Unix line endings, or your server won't read the file correctly... You can download BBEdit Lite for free, and somewhere in the preferences menu it gives you the option of saving with Unix format line endings.
