transfer customer/order databases from 2.2MS2 - 2.3.1

Last post.

Does anyone know if I can migrate just the customer, and order, related databases from 2.2MS2 to 2.3.1?

I do have old header tags and some other mods, but I don't care about taking them over. I'll reapply the mods I want.

I can reload everything else, including the products.

However, I can't lose all of the customer and order history.

I did google, search, read the upgrade guide and got no joy on the subject.

Thanks in advance.

FYI, I have three different posts about v2.3.1. I did that because they were 3 different issues and I thought it would help someone find the post if they had the same problem later. If that was BAD, just let me know and I won't do it that way again. I don't want to be a board hog.

check for eventual differences between the db tables in the old and new version..then reformat the data so it can be imported into the new db.

Thank you for your reply. I knew that in principle but it's the specifics I lack to complete the task.

First, I need a list of all of the customer related/order related databases. If someone could point me to the right doc I am happy to go ferret it out. I guess what I'm saying is that some tables belong to customer data like the address table but aren't named customer ****. I don't need to convert the rest of the stuff (i.e, products, configuration, header tags, etc).

I also assume that the orders are independent from the product tables once they are written out, so if I pull the associated product out from under the order it will be okay. Once it is written there is no cross-reference. All of the information is confined to the order row.

I could probably find all of the data differences but I don't know how to reformat the data. I also wouldn't think I need to reformat as much as

just load the matching columns to columns and leave the rest go unless it's mandatory for processing? Customer_name to Customer_name, etc.

Is that just an INSERT? I'm not sure.

Anyway, I have too many customers and orders to start fresh.

Any feedback on gotcha's or upgrade instructions (places to look) is more than appreciated.

Just thought I would bump just once. Can anyone point me to more information about the databases so I can migrate my store?

Thanks in advance.
